The 2016 OCA-New Jersey Chapter Internship Program Application & requirements are available to download & print below. The purpose of this Internship Program is to cultivate future leadership by providing opportunities for young Asian Americans to participate. The intern will work in a New Jersey congressional office and participate in the legislative process.
Applicants must be committed to work for 150 hours during the period between June 13, 2016 – August 19, 2016.
In addition, INTERNS will receive a stipend of $1000; which will be awarded upon completion of the 150 hours AND a free admittance to the OCA National Convention, July 20 – 24, 2016. (The hours attending the convention are not part of the 150 hours). INTERNS MUST REGISTER THROUGH THE OCA NJ CHAPTER PRESIDENT. Please read carefully all requirements as outlined on the Application & Requirements forms shown below.
Application with all requirements must be postmarked by May 23, 2016. An incomplete package will be deemed null and void!
The 2017 OCA Essay Scholarship Application is now available.
Awards offered this year:
Robert E. Wone Memorial Scholarship – $2,000 Plus 4 year membership to OCA and complimentary invitation to the OCA-NJ Asian Pacific American Heritage Luncheon through 2021 funded by the Robert E. Wone Family.
Linda Lee Memorial Scholarship – $1,500
Robert E. Wone OCA-NJ Gold Scholarship – $1,000
OCA-New Jersey Chapter Scholarships – funded by members of OCA-NJ – $800 – $300
Scholarships will be awarded at the OCA-NJ Asian American Heritage Luncheon DATE: May 21, 2017 NOTE: Place and time to be determined. Attendance at luncheon is required to be awarded the scholarships.
All essays, applications and required paperwork must be postmarked by April 17, 2017. Please read all requirements & instructions carefully before submitting application.

2月20日(星期六)晚,新澤西美華協會(OCA-NJ)在位於Avenel市1號公路旁的金鳳軒海鮮酒家舉辦了年度中國新年聚餐。 當天共有一百多位會員參加,場面熱鬧。作為一個為華裔爭取權益的非營利性組織,美華協會今年餐會探討的主題是華裔梁警官誤殺非裔一案。會長朱惠珍女士表示 對梁警官判決不公,呼籲華裔聲援全美範圍的抗議。同時,她也提到,美華協會全美範圍的年會將在7月下旬於新州的澤西市舉行,期盼會員們如期出席。更多資 訊,見美華協會新澤西分會網址:https://www.oca-nj.org/。
On February 20th, OCA New Jersey held its annual Lunar New Year dinner at Royal Seafood Restaurant in Avenel, NJ celebrating The Year of The Monkey. Over a hundred members attended this spectacular festivity. As a non-profit civil right national organization, they discussed the recent controversial verdict on former-NYPD Officer Peter Liang’s manslaughter case. OCA-NJ President Virginia Ng expressed that this verdict is unjust and unfair, and urged all Chinese-Americans for solidarity by joining the protests nationwide to support Office Liang. Also, she announced that the annual OCA National Convention will be held in Jersey City, NJ this year from July 21st to 24th and inviting all the members to attend and support this convention.
