OCA’s PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
- Promoting active participation of Asian Pacific Americans in both civic and national matters;
- Securing the social justice, equal opportunity and equal treatment of Asian Pacific Americans;
- Eliminating prejudices, stereotypes and ignorance of Asian Pacific Americans, and;
- Promoting the cultural heritage of Chinese and Asian Pacific Americans
To achieve these objectives, OCA is engaged in networking with its 82 chapters and affiliates across the country to develop leadership and community involvement. The chapters and organizational and college affiliates are establishing strong local programs in all parts of the country. Founded in 1973 as the Organization of Chinese Americans; OCA’s
goal is to ensure the civil rights of the Asian Pacific American community. OCA is the first national Asian Pacific American organization to establish headquarters in Washington, D.C. OCA has been successful in building national support and working in coalition with other national groups around issues affecting Asian Americans.
